Need Advice on T43

#1 Post by davyn » Wed Mar 16, 2005 1:16 am

I am running a small business and am thinking of upgrading from my T23 to a T43 and give my old one to my gf who will give her T20 to my sister - trying to keep it in the family.

Can you guys recommend the model that I need? Basically, I need something similar to my current one in size (14") with better battery life, higher resolution (SXGA?), a large hard disk (60Gb+) and 512Mb+. I also would need a second battery that I can use when I work at Starbucks/airport/plane/etc.

Also, does anyone know where I can get an EPP #? I am on extremely tight budget where EVERY penny counts. I used to know tons of people at IBM when I lived in NYC but now after 9 years in SF Bay Area, no one. :(

Thanks in advance,
Alex

Anothing thing.

Can I use any of my T23 accessories: mini docking station, power supply, secondary batteries that go into the CD drive cavity (forgot the name for it).

Thank you

1) Not unless you tell us what you're going to be running on it.

2) No.

3) No.

Well, I basically need the machine for regular business use (MS Office, Quickbooks, some Access-based apps, infrequent Photoshop use) as well as some light web development (PHP,MySql,Miva, etc.). Nothing really major (no gaming, A/V development, or heavy design work).

I am thinking of partitioning the disk to NTFS partitions for XP and other ones for Linux or BSD (have not decided which one yet) so that I can simulate the hosting environment. My guess is that this may require a faster disk - 7200 RPM or so.

I also would like to have a higher resolution screen to view more than one page at a time.

I am sure there are other things, but it has been a looong working night and my head is not thinking properly.

Thank you,
Alex
