Broken trackpoint key problem

#1 Post by WJB » Wed Mar 16, 2005 11:01 am

Oh stupid me. As I tried to stick the keyboard out I carelessly levered the right Trackpoint key so that it broke. I was very gentle indeed but still apparently too hard for it to survive. AFAI see there is no simple way to have it leashed back. I could eventually stick it with a sort of glue (since I don't use trackpoint keys at all) but please let me know what do you think first. I have been thinking about buying a brand new keyboard since the one at my notebook has a strange francophonic layout which is not useful at all (we use standard US keybord here in our country) and I'm far from being happy to see those shabby stickers at my keyboard.

A new Keyboard shouldn't cost that much..and you say that you didn't like it even before it broke... this is the part of your computer that you interface with constantly....if you rely on your computer, get a new one.....

Welcome to the forum!

Normally I would ask if the button still functions although it's broken, and tell you that you probably could (carefully) glue it back. Buuut, since you said you are in the market for a new keyboard anyway, I suggest that now is a good time to get one. The keyboard does come with new TrackPoint buttons.

Before you order one, search this forum for "Thai Keyboard" or "China Keyboard" for some useful informtion. Basically there are several models of US keyboards for your T40, and the Thai is by far better.
