R&R Doesn't Seem to Work on T41

I have a T41 with the hidden partition.
It runs a LONG time and then reboots and continues to run a LONGish time.

I think it rebooted again and the screen is black with a white mouse pointer.

After a longish time, I get a blue screen with white type telling me an error was encountered on the disk and install shut down to protect my computer. There's a page of text but it disappears before I can read it.

It reboots to XP in low rez. There are no IBM programs installed in XP. The HDD is still in FAT32.

I DL'd Hitachi's software and the HDD test OK.
It gets a disposition of 0x00 whatever that means.

Does Hitachi's software test the hidden partition portion of the HDD?
If not, perhaps the flaw on the HDD is on the hidden partition.
