T41 Disc drive not working!

Hello - I am new to this forum and not great with computers at all!
I have a T41 Thinkpad and all of a sudden the CD/DVD drive won't let me play anything - when I put a disc in I hear it spinning around, but the computer doesn't recognise that there is a disc inside.
I have no idea what is wrong, or what I can do, and would really appreciate any help anyone can offer.

Hi Genevieve and welcome to the forums.
What's on the CD that you're trying to read? Have you been able to read this same disc in the past?

There are many questions I could ask and I'm thinking it could be easier if you could contact me at work during the day - my business is repairing Thinkpads so we can run through some checks.
