Welcome to the forum!

N-cards requires 3 antenna system but it should work also with 2 antennas built-in T4x's. You will probably get the 1802-error about inserted not-authorized wireless card. This error is preventing the ThinkPad to boot up. So you need to apply no-1802 BIOS patch first. See the link in my signature and apply the BIOS update - it will also eliminate the infamous '2010' error. Your new wireless card must have miniPCI interface, miniPCI-e is not supported in T4x systems.
Current: T420
Previous: T400, T43p Flexview, T40, R52, T43p 14"
My first ThinkPad was 570

AFAIK a T43 does not throw an 1802. I beleive you have to use a bios hack. T40,T41 and T42 throw a 1802 that you can use the no-1802 hack on. I could be wrong though. Harry or George ? As far as the 2 ant. goes they make a 2 ant N card. i have one in my T41.
Good Luck
