Rebuild a T42 machine
Hi all,
I am attempting to wipe out and rebuild my T42 machine, however, when I click the "I agree to the terms and conditions" and it starts to recover... I get a message "IBM Recovery System has failed to recover your system". No other messages. Just an OK button.
Any idea what is going on here?

Did you boot and press the Access IBM button at the IBM spash screen to get into Rescue and Recovery? Alternatively you can use F11 at the IBM splash screen (before the OS starts to boot) to enter Rescue and Recovery.
If at some point you upgraded Rescue and Recovery, this might have caused your problem. If you can still create the Recovery Media CD set (see inside the IBM or ThinkVantage folder off of the Windows Start menu), you can boot those to restore your system to factory state (everything existing on the hard drive will be overwritten!). Note that you have to choose to 'Restore Factory Contents' twice when restoring from the CD's.
