T42 won´t let me install my software!

#1 Post by geefe » Fri Mar 18, 2005 8:08 am

I have read here that it is worth to give TP original installation a chance before re-formatting.

I have had many problems and I am seriously tempted to re-format.

This is my case: I use this Laptop only for music production.
ANd since I bought it, I have been experiencing problems installing and running softwares.
All of them are currently working on my Desktop PC.

Mostly when I try to run them, it says something about not finding the entry REGISTRY DELNODE , wich happens after installing succesfully the softwares.

I tried many ways, and it stills remains like this.

Before I get rid of this OS and everything, does anybody have any suggestions?

Thanks from Israel.

hi
no answers so far....

Before someone asks me. Yes, my software is original.

But my problem has gone even worse!

I cannot install the drivers of my ECHO INDIGO IO sound card I have just bought.

Is this machine a piece of trash?
It only made my life harder!

Hmm, with this little information it is really hard to give an advice. But as a start I would look into Administrative Tools --> Event Viewer. Perhaps the software you want to install is not designed for XP?

HI
First of all, when I want to install tha drivers for my Sound Card, it fstops the process (freezes) at the middle of it without any messages. So I have to stop it with CTRL+ALT+DEL.
The same proble when I want to Update any of the drivers. For example, the Recovery and Rescue.

Now, a different thing occurs with some of my software.

After the installation, when I try to run it, it says that the entry REGISTRY DELNODE has not been found.

The software is original and currently running on my Desktop PC.

as you see, this laptop is completely useless for me like this.

any suggestions?
Thanks.

It is hard that we can help you with this since I have the feeling the problem is software specific, and those applications are rare. I would try to look on forums of those software instead.

In you can get help, I would reformat. My experience with registry errors, is that if you have another computer, you are better off by reinstalling the one is givving you problems... I have learned my lessons and I use images all the time.
X220t IPS but but a bit unhappy with it
T60p 2007-93U 1600x1200 IPS (T42p is an overall better machine though. Lack of new IPS Thinkpads keeps me buying these older models!)
T42p 2373-KXU 1600x1200 IPS (The best ever!!)
A20p 2629-6UU 1400x1050 (My first Thinkpad!)
