Fan for T43p Picture warning
The fan on the left is the fan that came out, the one one on the right is what the supply sent. I don't think it will work. What do you guy's think??
Thanks

Thanks

The one on the right, in addition to cooling the GPU also cools the Southbridge chip. I think it will work.

Agreed with Harry. What's the FRU number for the fan on the right, BTW?

Re: Fan for T43p Picture warning
Thank you for the quick replys guys.
I wanted to point out a couple of things. The cooper part that will set over the gpu and southbridge does not have a tab on it to be held in place by the keyboard screw. That and there is thin white plastic of some sort on both sides of that cooper piece that would set on the chips. Will that present a problem or do I go a head and give it a shot?
When I get back to my shop tomorrow I will post the Fru number.
Thanks again for your help,

The one on the right is for regular Intel GPU equipped T43, not T43p.
The additional part covers Northbridge, not Southbridge.

Re: Fan for T43p Picture warning
It certainly will work, I'm just not sure how well.
I used the new style fan on a T42 that had the ATI 9600 video and a long fan, it is still working fine after over a year. No noticeable change in temps or noise.
However, the T43p, has was the hottest running T4x of all time. It appears that he original fan has more copper, the new one might even be partially/mostly brass? You could try it and monitor the temps. If you do, please report back to the forum on your findings!
Good luck.

Re: Fan for T43p Picture warning
Sorry it took so long for me to get back. The FRU number is 26R8197.
What I ended up doing was putting the correct fan back in.
Long story short; The 26R8197 just didnt fit up snug enough to the GPU. Had I more time with it, I could have used some thermal glue to glued a copper shim inplace. However, the guy needed his T43p back.
Good news, the new used fan worked great.
Thanks for all your suggestions.
