Help me decide which T42 I should buy.

Which should I go with the second is more expensive well quite a bit more. Is it worth it? Any other suggestions other than above. Want something pretty high performance for creating music and some gaming.

I would get the second one. $400 isn't too bad for an extra 512MB RAM, 300MHz CPU and the Fingerprint Reader.

You should know though that ThinkPads are not gaming machines... It will do it, but it's not designed for it, so there are some laptops which out-perform IBM in this area.

Also, if you want to create music, I would get a separate sound card (USB or PCMCIA). ThinkPads have better audio than most laptops, but laptops in general don't have the best audio.

Are there any other suggestions? I am pretty sure I will go with number two.

If you can wait, why not T43P. I think the price will be about the same and you get better CPU, better graphics card, and better DVD writer

When will the t43p be available. And will it be available on the website or over the phone only?

Call IBM. There is the name of a reliable rep in the FAQ in my signature.
