Has anyone compared the t43 keyboards to the newer ones, like the ones on the t60, x200, x301, etc?
I have had all those models, and the keyboards have been great unlike this, my first t43. The t43 keys feel like toshiba keys in that they are too easy to press. So easy that I am makein glots of meisakes. <(see what happens if I don't correct?)
Can I put the t60 keyboard on the t43? (might be problem as t60 has windows key t43 doesn't)
Perhaps I can try a different brand of keyboard for the t43? I haven't removed it to check the brand.
My others have been chicony and nmb, both of which I love and can type on quickly and perfectly without correcting every word. (I took typing class so I can type fast without looking at the keys...I think I could type "please excuse my dear aunt sally" @ 75 words per minute)
My fingers got used to the strong keys, so now when I type on the t43 I make mistakes on every word, and have to correct. It takes me 4 times longer to type anything and is frustrating. It is like typing on a toshiba. THere is just not enough resistance. I suppose I could relearn, but I really loved the keyboards on my other thinkpads. I thought that was what people were talking about when they talk about thinkpads having the best keyboards.
Even if I can put a t60 keyboard on it I won't have the proper grey function keys, which I want to have. And the trackpoint buttons will be wrong.
Any help is really appreciated.
I will report on the brand of keyboard when I remove it later. Maybe it is an alps or something and just putting a chicony or nmb would fix this. I hope that is the case. My fear is that the t43 keyboards are just all to light regardless of brand. There must be someone who has already tried all them and knows the answer. I am willing to buy a keyboard to correct this, or trade with someone. The only good thing about the keyboard is that there is no shine on the keys. It looks new. (of course I prefer a keyboard as shiney as possible because I like the smooth surface it makes) The lack of shine just is good for resale or trade value. It is also pretty quiet. Quieter than t60 chicony, louder than t60 nmb.

Re: Just got t43p, keyboard too weak, making mistakes typing
Searching the archives using "nmb alps chicony" and limiting the search to the T4x conference, there's many posts found. A quick look through them seems to say that the NMB is the preferred keyboard, but YMMV. Personally, I much prefer the 600 series

You can't put a T6x keyboard (or any of the newer ones) into a T4x, the connector is entirely different.
Take your keyboard off (my guess is that you have a chicony) and get another one with a different FRU. It's likely to make a huge difference.
Good luck.
