IBM Access -> System Information -> Warranty and Parts ?

5. Check LCD Samsung is preferred.
FPU # 11P8348 is Samsung
FRU# 92P6737 is Hydis
FPU # 11P8346 is IDTech

I would like to know which LCD I have. FRU number is 92P6680. Also, how would I find out more info on FRU numbers? Is there a way on IBM's site?

I don't think you can use partslookup if they've changed the part. As far as I know, it only applies to the originally shipped unit.

If they changed it afterwards and is not the original part, they only way is to open it and actually find out the markings on the part

software might not be able to pick up part numbers

me too, this was just the answer to CChoi83´s question, not to mine.

..but I don´t want to believe that opening the whole screen is the only thing I can do to verify that I got the samsung.

is there no system-tool out there that can read this information?

or is it that easy to open the lcd-panel? - never done it before.

thank you, help on this issue is much appreciated

Oh yeah, sorry but I forgot to mention that I did try partslookup. It just says LCD bla bla. It doesn't state any details. Just states that it is a LCD screen unit. Any other options?
