upgrade sxga+ panel to uxga for T42 (not T42p)

#1 Post by jack77 » Fri Feb 11, 2011 3:09 pm

recently i bought an 15" SXGA+ T42 (2374-6g5) notebook, but the screen has had its days - there were dark edges and yellow tint.
Is it possible to upgrade the SXGA+ flexview panel to UXGA?
In some FAQs i read that a dual channel LVDS is requided. ???

If it is not possible, should i look for a new 15" N150P3-L01 panel or for something other?

Thanks,

Jack

This upgrade is doable. You'll need a new LCD cable (FRU# 91P6858), a new inverter (FRU# 93P4161), and the LCD itself (FRU# 92P6683 ). As an alternative if you can find an entire UXGA T42P LCD assembly that would also do the job.

@Harryc Thanks, that are good news!

Because i'm a die-hard perfectionist i would like to know, if it is possible to use the Boe Hydis panel HV150UX1-100 or should i go for the N150U3-L01 from IDTECH (FRU# 92P6683) :
at least in one topic a user reported that the T60 LCD from Boe Hydis is superior in comparison with the IDTech panel
(in most properties, excepting color calibration and viewing angles)

I've read that it is possible but I have never done it. I rarely recommend doing something I haven't done myself :). Try some more research or wait for more comments.
