T42p Shipped Today

#1 Post by asiafish » Mon Mar 21, 2005 11:43 pm

Well my T42p (2373-GVU) shipped today and I should have it on Wednesday. With the serial number from my receipt, I verified that it has the Samsung LCD and Thai keyboard, though the 9-cell battery is Sanyo, not Sony. We'll see how everything fits when it arrives.

Needless to say, I am extremely excited about this. I haven't had a new ThinkPad since the T22, and usually alternate between a newish ThinkPad and a newish PowerBook. I just bought a brand-new PowerBook at the beginning of the month (12" superdrive), so having both my Apple and PC as current, high-end models will be a serious treat.

As always, Apple for work and play, IBM for play and work. Either-or for outstanding design, long battery life and excellent quality.

Just use your serial number on IBM's webpage, much easier than the over-promoted FAQ.

That won't tell him the part number for the Thai keyboard. He has to do the parts lookup with the model and serial number and then look for the part number in the FAQ to tell which keyboard he has. :)

Not sure whether you're referring to the Buying FAQ that dfumento put together or the READ ME FIRST one that I so often refer people to, however I assume his motive in pointing people to a FAQ is the same as mine - they not only give people some basic information that we all need to know (they're not called Frequently Asked Questions for nothing) but also teaches them how to find more in-depth information.

It's the old Give a man a fish vs Teach a man to fish concept.

Sorry for the Newbie post everyone. I just found out about the search button and went on to search the part number of thai vs chinese keyboard. It looks like I have the chinese kb 93p480 and I just made a request for the thai keyboard. Will there be instructions on how to replace the keyboard or does anyone know the link to that?
thanks much,
p.s. learning to fish the hard way
