There seems to be no power to my thinkpad....
Hi guys.
I was just using my thinkpad as normal when all of a sudden I heard the famous beep as if the charger cable had disconnected. I plugged it back in and I get no power, I've disconnected and reconnected it.
I have taken the fuse out te plug and used a new one still with no luck.
Its a genunie thinkpad charger and a refurbished thinkpad with no problems till now.
Sounds silly but I've checked the mains sockets in the room.
Any help would be great as I an writing this on my backberry at the moment

I tried the paperclip thing from the following thread on a T41 with good result.

It took me quite some time to do it, but in the end it worked here.
Good luck!

Hi
With the charger disconnected does the Thinkpad (TP) start up and work OK just on battery?
If you plug in the charger does the battery indicator light flash as you plug it in, but won't start up? If so remove the battery and the CMOS battery and press the on / off button 10 times and hold down for 30 secs. Repeat this a few times and see if it then works.
When the AC adapter (charger) is plugged in does the battery charge light come on as normal?
If not then you need to check the fuses and in particular F2 - go to my sig and download the How To docs list, and from there the T4x fuses doc. Then if you have access to a test meter check the state of F2. If you don't know how to do this or don't have the faintest idea what I'm on about I suggest not trying it.
Alternatively you could send it to me (I run Reflow Repairs in Newcastle and we do Thinkpad repairs - see the blue advert at the top of the page) and we can look at it for you, check fuses etc. Send me an email to nick@reflowrepairs.com or a PM for more info.

Hi guys thanks for all the help,
nothing was working, so for strange reason i thought to change the lead from the wall (mains) to the IBM Thinkpad power brick,
Hey presto, power?
But thanks for all the help, in future hope this could solve someone allot of bother.
