Sorting Screws During Dissasembly

#1 Post by t20user » Fri Mar 25, 2011 2:04 pm

I am in the process of repairing a bunch of T41 machines and found I could use a method of sorting the screws during each step of parts removal. I have a 21 compartment plastic bin and I am going to put the screws for each step in its own compartment. I made a little reference sheet for the parts bin to stick on the lid. I imagine it would be useful to others, even if you use it once setting the screws on a printout.

Its a rough draft, if there are errors or recommendations let me know...

Image is in the .PNG format. It looks like you are using Firefox 4 (same as me) but I can see both the thumbnail in the post and the full-sized image perfectly fine. Make sure that Firefox does not have the "Load image automatically" option unchecked (Tools/Options/Content).

Back OT: I use a sectioned utility box and simply toss in a scrap of paper with a short description of where the screws came from (bottom, keyboard, Ultrabay, etc.). So far I haven't re-installed the wrong screw using this method :) .

Seems to be related to the image hosting site (Imageshack.com). Here's something that might help:

http://www.dq.winsila.com/tips-tricks/h ... opera.html

Even though my Firefox browser has the value of 2 for this option, I'm still able to view the images.

After about 15 or so complete T4x teardowns and rebuilds, you won't need a system. You just work from memory. Enjoy.

I use a series of small pill-holders with seven chambers, designed for days of the week. They can be had very cheaply from 'dollar stores', at least here.

As to remembering which compartment is from where I just use the HMM and each box has the screws from each step, in order. Works for me.

Best,
Shaun.
