T40 Screen is a little dim
Hi
I have two T40. One has a very bright LCD (Mobility Radeon 9000). The other is noticeably dimmer (Mobility Radeon 7500).
I just replaced the LCD on the dimmer one because the backlight when out... But it a bit dim before it had a problem.
Does anyone know why one is so dimmer. I do have the brightness all the way up via the FN + Home keys.

CCFLs lose their brightness with age and/or lots of use.
Lovely day for a Guinness! (The Real Black Stuff)

Just a guess, but could it be that the inverter is not putting out enough voltage? If you want to experiment, you could swap inverters between your two machines, and see if the dimness follows the inverter.
Collection = T500 - R400 - X300 - X200 - T61 (14" WXGA+) - T61 (14.1" SXGA+) - T60 (15" SXGA+) - X40 - T43p - T43 - T42p - A30P - 600E

Thanks for the response. I swapped inverters and there is no change. The LCD is still a little dim. The dimness does not make it unusable.
I still would like to fix it if it's an easy fix.
Any help would appreciated.

How to Replace the CCFL: http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=88991.
Note that this is for a 15" IPS/Flexview but will give you an idea - not for the faint hearted!
