T40 Screen goes black
T40 Screen goes black
My T40 screen goes black but there is no pinkish hue in fact no color at all. Sometimes the screen begins having lines in it and then goes black and sometimes it just goes black. I plugged in an external monitor and it went black as well. The computer is still running but unresponsive. After powering down and letting it sit for awhile it will power backup and work again for awhile and the cycle continues.
Any ideas would be appreciated.

it sounds like you've got the well-known ati gpu failure problem that afflicts t4x machines. there are services that can reflow your gpu. or you can look into a replacement motherboard.
have a look at the sticky threads at the top of the t4x forum: http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewforum.php?f=2 for background and solutions.
