Update:Hi, thanks for volunteering your time here. My t41 is the best computer I've owned, but a few days ago, audio stopped coming out of the headphone jack. I was moving "t" around for some reason and the speaker plug was disconnected. I had ac powered speakers plugged in. With the machine powered, I reconnected the plug, having seen others do this with headphones. The plug seemed loose in the jack. I checked out all the "Sound" and "Audio" settings, tested for Windows system sound and went through Windows xp troubleshooter. I heard silence here, on videos and playing mp3/wma files. I am missing my audio through headphones also but the phones work on other devices.
Misc. environmental stuff-upgraded Flash player recently. VLan Media player worked shortly prior to audio crash, though it had been intermittent since installing a few months ago. Ran CCleaner recently. Recent Adobe Flash player and Reader updates have been failing regularly, right after starting.
Didn't try reinstalling driver yet. Could it be a bad integrated sound card? I was thinking a pcmcia sound card might be an easy fix, if they exist. What's going on and what would you suggest?
Cheers!
Reinstalled driver-no change. Used CClean latest version on Windows XP, sp3, apps, registry-no change.
@Moderator or others: If no sound after Linux, what are workaround/repair alternatives?
