weight saving: ultra bay drive

#1 Post by tensai_jin » Sun Mar 27, 2005 8:21 am

Er...is it OK for me to power on my t42 without putting in the DVD drive in the Ultra Bay? If I am bringing it to school and I don't need it, would like to shed all the weight possible.

Alright the drive may not weigh a lot but every single gram would count if u lug it around... :D

Will there be any adverse effect doing so? like booting error? Or even physical problems, such as dust getting into the body?

no booting problems or adverse effects.... you can get an insert if you're worried about dust, but under normal use, it should be no problem.....

You'll want the one on the bottom.

They are nice to have - weight almost nothing and fill in the bay to protect, support, and look good!
