Surefire way to upgrade T40 WLAN to 802.11g?
Surefire way to upgrade T40 WLAN to 802.11g?
Greetings,
With a few other minor upgrade and tweak projects going really well, I thought I'd consider upgrading the PCI-WLAN of my T40 2373 to 802.11g, at least in case it can be done for a small amount of gold.
It may be because it's late, but I can't quite make out exactly what I need to think about in order to get the right card, avoiding bios error reports etc.
Anyone happen to have a quick and definite answer?

I recently upgraded to one of these Phillips ABG cards in my T40. Works very well so far. Cheap too. Just downloaded the proper driver Lenovo Support.

All you need to worry about is the 1802 error, which can be easily remedied with a tiny BIOS hack.

Thanks Greg & RBS!
Mentioned Philips card ordered from Ebay, €12 including shipping ($17 for you yanks). Decent price to pay to let my WLAN run at G/N only (or more specifically router with N, AP with G instead of B/G).
It would appear that it's pulled from a TP, at least the pictured one had a FRU, so let's hope that means it's on the T40 whitelist for convenience's sake.

Orclas, When I look at the wireless adapter in Device Manager, it says Driver Provider-Atheros, Driver Date-5/2/2007, Driver Version-4.1.2.156. I never got an error of any kind. So they must be made for the ThinkPad.
Good Luck with the new card.

I can now report a succesful install of the "new" WLAN card, including a welcome absence of any merde from the BIOS
For the drive-by reader I may add that the corresponding driver for this particular card can be found at:
