Track Point, smooth scroll setting

I have noticed that when I select smooth scrolling in Track Point settings, that excel spreadsheets take MUCH longer to load than when standard scrolling is selected!

I have tried both standard and smooth settings several times, same result.

When I double clik on an XLS file, with standard scrooling selected, Excel and the selected file load virtually instantly. When I select smooth scrolling, it can take 4 or 5 seconds.

IBM support says it's an MS Office problem.

Loading Excel directly seems fine, the problem only occurs when double clicking a .XLS file.

Any ideas? Thanks!
