T43 Doesnt Stay on,Cant Reach Spash Screen after LCD Replace

Here's my issue and hopefully people with a similiar issue will be helped also.

I have a T43 Intel Chipset Laptop. The LCD Screen was bad, so I Ordered a Screen off of Ebay. Listing said T40/T41/T42/T43 LCD.

Part arrived today and noticed the bezel was still attached to it. I had Recieved a T40 LCD.

I Installed the LCD and I used the original Inverter that came with the T43. I went to power on the Laptop. It stayed on for about 5 seconds(no sign of any picture or backlight) and it cut completely off on its own.

Couldnt turn it back on...

I tried resetting the BIOS with the power button method and battery off. Plugged back in the AC Adapter. Which made it able to power on. and once again it cut off after about 2 seconds. no splash screen or anything. I even tried plugging back in the original LCD to see if that was the issue. Still no luck. powers on and then cuts off.

So i went into process of elimination to see if a component had went bad, i took everything attached to the motherboard off and narrowed down to just the cpu attached.
I can power it on with no Ram. It Beeps 1-3-3-1 ...I tried different RAM (confirmed good) and it went back to cutting off.

What could be the issue?

What's the 7-character model number of your T43, should be something like 26??-??? or 187?-???

Let's try this again:

On the bottom of the machine, there's a sticker which shows the serial number (don't post that), production date (such as 06/05) and the model number, such as 1872-M3U or 2668-Q1U etc...

Have you received the entire lid from that T40? Including the LCD cable - or have you used the original cable from your screen?

My guess would be that there's a mismatch somewhere, but am trying to figure out exactly where.

The beep code that you're getting with no RAM is a good thing, that board is still alive, although it might be damaged.

Yes i recieved the entire lid, and yes im using the original cable from the T43.

as far as the board possibly being damaged is weird. I havent powered it on in a week or two. before then it was fine ::shrugs::

Ive even tried powering it on with the RAM and the LCD plus inverter not attached if that helps. still no luck =(

You've likely received a XGA screen, but are using the original SXGA+ cable from your old screen.

That is the issue.

If the "new" screen came with a LCD cable of its own, try powering on with that one.

If you still don't get anything, you're likely looking at a blown fuse on the board.

ok i tried the original cable and still no luck =(.

if a fuse is blown will it be easy to visually identify?

Not likely, you'd have to use a multimeter...

I believe you have a short somewhere, but can't really pinpoint where. That's why the machine shuts down on its own.

Surprised nobody noticed this...
Have you tried the inverter that came with the T40 lid?
And why did you replace the lid in the first place?
Try booting in Safe Mode (press F8 a few times at startup).
Then set the screen resolution to 1024x768 and reboot.

idk, i thought the lcd would be compatible with what i had.

in result it blew the mobo. im ordering a new mobo(t43), wondering if i should use t40 inverter instead w the replacement lcd

The T40 LCD is an XGA and your T43 LCD is SXGA+
You need to use ALL the parts from the T40 (cable, LCD, inverter) to run on your T43.
Mixing a (T43) SXGA+ inverter/cable with a (T40) XGA LCD is asking for trouble.
Check the fuses around the LCD connector on the mobo.
