Touchstrip problem...HELP

Just had a problem with my t42...all of a sudden, after restarting my system after updating drivers, my fingerprint sensor stopped working. After restart, at login screen it said Fingerprint sensor not connected or working. SO had to manually enter password. tried restarting several times to no avail. Went into BIOS to do hardware diagnostics, tried to run the TouchStrip test, but it said touchstrip sensor not found!! Got it both times i tried BIOS. Got [censored] so I shut down the laptop, waited for a minute and boot up again. Lo behold, suddenly it started working again!

Only had this problem twice til now...first time I don't remember whether it was after updating drivers or not so I can't pinpoint the source, but I doubt it's the drivers, since they do not interfere with the touchstrip at all. The first time it happened, I also went to BIOS but that time it detected the touchstrip. ANd miraculously starting working after i shutdown and waited.

Anyone else have the same problem? Or is it just me? was thinking of sending to IBM but the thing is I don't even know the problem cause, so I can't really replicate the situation again to show to IBM people...HOW?

Oh and the new intel drivers work...except must restart before Fn+F5 works. HELP pls someone! :shock:

Probably a long shot, but maybe you could try reseating the cable for the fingerprint reader. I don't own a T4x, but I think removing the palmrest is pretty easy. Anyone???

Alright, I just emailed IBM Singapore for help regarding my fingerprint sensor and about the i-refuse-to come-out DVD drive that is being complained about in another thread. Anyone with the same problem?

Chose to email to test their email response timing...see if IBM lives up to its name as the best PC support...hahaha... :lol:
