T43 - boot blank screen

Try booting with power adaptor and battery but only blank screen (no BIOS) with power on and battery LEDs are lighted in green.

Disconnected everything (WLAN, HDD, optical drive, ...) and left with processor, memory and fan, blank screen with power on and battery LEDs lighted in green.

Resit processor and memory, still blank screen with power on and battery LEDs lighted in green.

Video is ATI X300.

Any idea what's wrong?

Could be either bad LCD inverter, or CCFL. Could also be motherboard. Do you get any display on an external monitor?

I tried the LCD on another T43 and it's working fine so that rule out the LCD inverter.

I would start looking at the motherboard, then. Check F2 fuse first, but could very likely be a BGA failure on the graphics chip or Southbridge chip. Not unusual on the T4x series.

Ok, will take a look at F2 fuse. Any idea how can I check for the BGA failure? If these are the cases, will it still work if I connect to the external monitor?

BTW, can I confirm that the minimum attached components are processor (even without the fan) and memory in order to see the BIOS screen?

Remove all memory. Does the laptop beep?

Yup it's beep. Also pretty sure the memory are working.

Try one memory module at a time. Try both slots with each module.

Tried that, one slot at a time and at different slot. Also tried different memory.
