14.1" T41/R51 Frankenpad (Intel GMA 900), SXGA+?
14.1" T41/R51 Frankenpad (Intel GMA 900), SXGA+?
Yes, I know, this has been discussed before.
But I'm still unsure as to the exact reason why this isn't possible.
If I look at the datasheets for the Samsung LTN141XA (an XGA panel found in the R51/T41s), the BOE-Hydis N141XB (XGA, found in T43) and the datasheet for the the BOE-Hydis HT14P12 (an SXGA+ panel found in the T43/T43p), the pinout is basically identical. It *is* identical between the first two (suggesting that they're interchangeable), and it's *almost* identical between the last two: the only difference is the first pin (CH_SEL) and the latter's use of 20-30.
Now to me that seems to indicate that you could just pull pin 1 high (i.e. single channel LVDS) and leave 20-30 as GND/NC.
I ask because, as the title suggests, I have a T41/R51 hybrid that I'd love to have an SXGA+ screen...
So I guess the question is: has someone tried that?

There's a post in here somewhere (I believe in the RAGZ forum) from a member who got SXGA+ to work on his Intel-based 14" R51 by hacking the video cable...
That's the best I have. No personal experience on this one.
Good luck.

I can't seem to find that post, but then again I've never had much luck with the forum search...ajkula66 wrote:There's a post in here somewhere (I believe in the RAGZ forum) from a member who got SXGA+ to work on his Intel-based 14" R51 by hacking the video cable...
At any rate, I did some more reading and I think I know why the 15" SXGA+ panels work while the 14.1" ones don't.
In order to confirm my theory, I'd have to find somebody with a 15" SXGA+ R5x and get them to measure what pin 1 is when the machine boots. I'd also want to know if there's any resistor in the cable for 1 as well (although my bet is that there's not, and that that's on the board.)
All that said, I'm wondering if going the R52-planar route might not just be a better idea...

You still won't get SXGA+ on a 14"...

No, I know that. I'm just wondering if there's actually an electrical difference between the R52 and R51 LVDS pinouts.ajkula66 wrote:You still won't get SXGA+ on a 14"...
Correct me if I'm wrong, but the R51 doesn't support SXGA+ at all, even for 15" panels, correct?
