Video driver stopped responding...

#1 Post by ccookie66 » Fri Jul 22, 2011 8:48 pm

Hello, whenever I play the Sims 2 Double Deluxe, about 5 minutes in, it will freeze, then blue screen. But sometimes instead, it will say the video driver stopped responding, then the Sims 2 closes. All the colors will be messed up and the resolution is really low, until I restart. Why does it do this? I tried updating with Windows update, but it didn't find any driver updates. :help:

That sounds like the beginning of the GPU failure...if you can stay away from games of *any* kind, you *might* prolong the life of the machine...

Really? I did some researching on GPU failure, and this is what I found: http://www.ehow.com/about_5410687_signs ... -card.html

If you scroll down to where the blue screen of death is mentioned, that is EXACTLY what is happening.

It is what it is...

Either get a refurbished board from here:

or move on to the next machine...

Good luck.

Well, do you think it might be just the game? Because a few days ago, I had the Sims 2 Original installed, and I would play for hours, and this never happened. But, both games had a no cd patch also...so could that be causing it maybe?
