T41 Intel 2100B Wireless In another laptop?

I sold my T41, pulling the Hard Drive, and MiniPCI Intel Pro/Wireless 2100b Card out.

Ive tried installing this card in a Dell Precision M70 Laptop, and a Compaq Presario V4000, both of witch say that the card is not compatible during boot. The only thing I notice that might be different about the card is that there is an extra pin on the card edge, that is not found on the cards pulled out of these machines originally.

The card DOES however seem to work fine in a Thinkpad T22

Any ideas why this would not be compatible in any other machines?

Those cards are OLD, man! (802.11b is the slow 11mBit standard)
You could hardly GIVE them away nowadays.
Get an Intel 2200BG or a Broadcom-BCM94306xxx instead.

Its not a matter of getting one. I already have a card and want to use it in a machine that is missing a card, without going out and getting another one. This question could pertain to ANY cards installed in thinkpads that came OEM. Does that make sense?

The pin isnt listed on the pinout, it appears this pin doesnt have a printed circuit leading to it, its just there on both sides of the card edge. Like a jumper pin to prevent its use in a non IBM machine or something.

Since you have nothing to loose on such an old card, get a sharp knife and scratch off the extra pin(s).
Then try again.

I have it installed in a T22 right now, so that would be the loss if it didnt work anymore.

Below is a pictures of the pin I am talking about, I dont see this pin on any of the 3 other miniPCI cards I have. The RED TRIANGLE points to the pin in question.

That's pin 1. From the pinout I referenced earlier, the signal name is TIP. It's for a modem (paired with the RING signal).
