T41 hitachi 40GB HD died

#1 Post by kcaegis45 » Wed Aug 03, 2011 2:15 pm

The HD on my T41 died.
I am looking for a new one.
I know it s/b IDE and not SATA.
There doesn't seem to be many out there.
I have several questions if someone can help answer them.
1) Can I use a PATA or EIDE HD?
2) what is the max GB HD that the T41 BIOS will allow?
3) I noticed a Western Digital HD model# WD1200BEVE that might be ok. I think the "BEVE" say its IDE model. But said online stores say PATA in the description.
Is there a difference.
What is the largest GB I can install that the BIOS will allow?
What other brands/model do you know that works/compatible?
Thanks

Any IDE/EIDE/ATA/PATA hard disk in 2.5" format will work, as long as it is NOT SATA.
The largest available on the market is WD Scorpio Blue 320GB.
A very popular one is the Samsung HM160HC with 160GB.
There is no BIOS limitation.
