Improved wireless for T42?

#1 Post by oldsguy » Wed Aug 03, 2011 4:25 pm

Hi all

I just picked up another T42 (2373-8TU) that currently isn't equipped with wireless (though it's upgradeable). I figured I would float a question to this forum: is there a better wireless card that is compatible with the T42 besides the Intel 2200BG?

I don't mind BIOS hacks or whatnot to make it work, I'm just a little fed up with the spotty performance of the 2200BG on my old T42.

I'd suggest to swap the intel WLAN card to an Atheros-based WLAN card; see e.g. the thread T42p: WLAN-swap (Intel to Atheros): Advantages/difficulties?.

Search on e.g. eBay for 91P7301 (802.11 a/b/g) which you will find from $5 (used) to $15 (new), shipped or search for "T42 Atheros" on eBay and other cards will show up such as e.g. this.
