I am working on a T40 with a newly installed hard drive and newly loaded XP with no recovery cd's and I have some questions maybe you could help me with:
1. What is the difference between T40 and T40/p?
2. In your opinion should I order drivers from ebay or should I pay the $45 and get the recovery cd from Lenovo?
Thank for the help...Dave

Re: Thinkpad T40 with new HD, no drivers
Welcome to the forum!
Post a WTB (want to buy) ad in the forum's Marketplace and someone will come to the rescue for half the price...
BTW, you can also use disks from T41, T42 and R50/p. The same business...
The difference between T40p and the rest of T40 series was its 64MB ATi Radeon 9000 GPU. It also came only with 14" SXGA+ LCD (1400x1050) which was available on some non-p units as well.

Re: Thinkpad T40 with new HD, no drivers
Dave, welcome to the forum... If it was me, I would just download System Update 3.14 and let it find and install the drivers for me. Or go to the Lenovo Support site, and download the drivers that you need. You might have to download a network driver on another computer first though. Or what I usually do is boot a live Linux CD and download all the drivers I want, then boot into Windows and install 'em.
If you already have XP installed, you don't really need to buy anything else.
