Thanks for replies. I think I will buy a six cell battery now. I will use the six cell for most tasks but use the 9 cell when i need long battery life.

also consider
Electrovaya 160 d model (i think).. This is an external battery that I keep in my bag for long plane flights. Pricey, but you may be able to find one for $200ish on ebay. Supposedly 8 hours additional run time, but I haven't had that sort of luck with my T30.

Hey Cgillies86, I too have ordered a KTU (from Bill). I also figured out the "issues" with the 9-cell battery. IMHO, the 9-cell is really only necessary if you are going for long trips etc. The 9-cell only provides 33% more power so the KTU with a 6-cell should still last for a little over 4 hours. Good enough for most trips in my book.Cgillies86 wrote:I think I will buy a six cell battery now. I will use the six cell for most tasks but use the 9 cell when i need long battery life.
The problem with having a "spare" battery lying around that you never use is that it can degrade quite easily if you leave it idle for too long. I figured the best thing to do was to get the KTU with a 6-cell. This is the great thing about ordering with Bill, he will accomodate such wishes quite nicely
Enjoy your KTU. Let us all know when you get it
Cheers,
Christian

I have an R50p, which comes with the 9cell.
The thing you need to remember is that the marketing claims IBM makes about its battery life have no relation to real battery life -- that is a direct quote from IBM support people I've talked to. Real battery life for a 9cell battery on the R50p is touted as 6 hours, but in fact it is about 3 hours when running just Microsoft Word and Netscape and with the screen at medium brightness. When I complained about this to IBM tech support, they told me that 3 hours was perfectly normal. So a 6 cell on the R50p should run for about 2 hours.

With screen on low and wireless on but not bluetooth or anything else, I get almost exactly 3.5 hours on mine with the 6-cell, which is exactly what the TABOOK says and the specs page (in support section) on the IBM website claim.

Nice pics - BTW, not that you should do it, but I'm sure you can probably recover the SN from the barcode underneath the decimal SN - Not such thing as a perfect crimeSci-Clone wrote:lolG-Man wrote:[censored]! The serial number is covered! I was about to sell it on Ebay.![]()
