T43P Blue screen

#1 Post by mnowell69 » Mon Aug 15, 2011 9:37 am

I know this has been covered in some sense here in the forum, in fact it is how i found this forum some months ago by searching for help with a BLUE SCREEN problem.

My problem was evident after i bought the TP from fleabay and if i let it go into stanby all was well. Sometimes though it would blue screen on wake-up from standby, and only from standby. Anyhow i followed advice to disable the ETHERNET adaptor in the bios and sure enough no more blue screen. I recently installed win7 and re-enabled the ethernet but this time i noticed that there was no ethernet shown in device manager. I disabled the ethernet again in the bios and got on with my life. Today i re-installed XP with the restore disks and still no ethernet (of course you might say) I saw today on the internet that the ethernet is controlled by southbridge ( or northbridge?? ) so i decided to downgrade the bios to 1.28 and lo and behold i have ethernet again in the device manager etc, and no blue screen.

What i wouldlike to know is, has anybody else had to suffer a problem like this??

***Updated.Blue screen came back so i disabled the ethernet again. For somereason went 8 hours of testing without a problem. Peculiar***
