ultrabay battery

#1 Post by ellinj » Sun Apr 03, 2005 3:55 pm

How much extra time does this battery provide? I have a 2373m3u with the 6cell battery. How does it compare to having just the 9cell battery? I don't use the dvd much so I am thinking that it may be a good compromise since it won't change the form factor of the machine.

I get a good 2 hours of normal use from the extra battery.

Does it drain the ultrabay battery or the primary battery first?

I was thinking of buying one of these for my T43 but decided against it. The Ultrabay battery is only 1.5ah or about 1/3 the capacity of the standard 6 cell battery. I ended up getting the 9 cell battery as it is only a few ounces more than the 6 cell battery and it really doesn't change the footprint of the T43 much. My real world battery life is as follows:

6 cell = 3hrs 20mins (4800)

9 cell = 5hrs (7200)

I would assume in my computer that the Ultrabay would only be good for about 1hrs 7mins.

Depending on where you buy the battery, the difference in price is not that much between the two. On the IBM EPP site the 9 cell battery was only about $40 more than the Utrabay battery.
