IS VIDEO FIXED OR REMOVABLE

#1 Post by KRAZY KEV » Fri Aug 26, 2011 5:19 pm

Is the video on my T43 (ATI X300) onboard or is it a dedicated video card that can be removed and easily upgraded?

The short answer is no. It's a VLSI graphics chip that is soldered to the motherboard.

The long answer is yes. If you can find an expert reballer, then you can upgrade the chip to the top of the line T43p GPU, called the ATI FireGL V3200.

However, with the current low cost of T43 parts or whole machines, it would be far less of a pain (and likely cost), to just buy another motherboard, base or whole machine and just swap the hard drive.

Good luck!
