2687D8U best value?

#1 Post by idczar » Mon Apr 04, 2005 5:16 am

hi all,

i'm on the verge of becoming a ThinkPad member, and I was wondering which model would be the best value.

I can get 2687D8U for $1,754.10 before tax + shipping and I thought it was pretty good deal

it has

Highlights
- IBM ThinkPad T43 2687
- Pentium M 750 1.86 GHz
- Microsoft® Windows® XP Professional
- RAM 512 MB
- HD 60 GB
- DVD¦RW
- Mdm
- LAN EN, Fast EN, Gigabit EN, 802.11b, 802.11a, 802.11g
- Centrino
- 14.1" TFT SXGA+ (1400 x 1050)
- Think Express

I was wondering what you guys think.. I really want a 15' UXGA model but they cost too much, and being a student, I rather upgrade by myself, or build from open bay.. anyway I would appreciate any input.

Seems like a good price. See FAQ in my signature before you buy....

266846U is about $1600 w/same discount schedule. Same as your unit but
1. No 'a' wireless
2. 40GB instead of 60GB

I think the 266846U does not have a dvd burner but the 2687D8U has one.
