WiFi card for T41
WiFi card for T41
Hi everyone,
I got a second hand T41 that unfortunately didn't have a wireless card installed. I found some wireless cards that are compatible but could someone please suggest the best ones? (if there are any diffrerences)
Also is the T41 compatible with express cards? I want to add a SD card reader and maybe an expansion card with additional usb ports.
Thanks

Hi,
I've tried many different MiniPCI cards to IBM laptops and only ones that work without the 1802 error in bootup, were the original IBM parts. Sometimes even original IBM parts from newer laptops do not work in older IBM laptops.
If you want to get rid of the 1802 error, download either the CD- or floppy image from this page: http://www.command-tab.com/2006/02/26/t ... error-fix/
Boot the laptop from the image and type no-1802. After that you can plug in any MiniPCI-card. Only thing that doesn't work with unauthorized cards is the WiFi-light in the screen backlight inverter.
EDIT: I personally like to use Intel 2915ABG cards. Thay've worked flawlessly from T30 to X41.

Re: WiFi card for T41
On this forum the Intel 2915ABG is considered one of the worst cards...
The Intel 2200BG is way more stable.
Alternative: Broadcom BCM94306 varieties, using drivers from the Dell Truemobile 1300.

Hi,
I haven't had any problems with Intel 2915ABG card with the Intel's own drivers and Windows XP's Wirelss Zero Configuration.
The Wi-Fi cards were European standard and have worked in several European countries and with hundreds of different sorts of APs.
I haven't read about problems with the 2915 series, but could they have been related to driver- or Wi-Fi configuration application issues? For example Intel 5100 card with DELL E-series laptops comes in my mind. Couldn't get the card working properly with DELL's drivers and Control Point software. Worked fine with Intel's own drivers and Widnows XP's WZC. No problems in W7.

Thanks for the replies everyone!
I will most probably go for the IBM 2200BG, I found it on ebay on a reasonable price. I will also buy a 34mm SD reader express card.
Thanks again!
