My T41 and "Bad Pixel"

#1 Post by jdhurst » Tue Apr 05, 2005 5:00 pm

My T41 got a new LCD over a year ago when I fell on it and cracked it. The old one had a bad pixel; the new one does not.

Yesterday I turned on the T41 and it did not feel right (sluggish where it normally is not). After a few minutes I see a bad pixel in the top left quadrant. Touch it with my finger and it does not go away.

Shut down, restart, startup is entirely normal, and the bad pixel is gone. Still gone today.

Can this happen from a logical software point of view? (That is, no real problem). Or, is this a sign of an impending problem?

Sounds like Video Memory got a "bad bit" written to it. My guess is it doesn't come back.......

I had a strange pixel problem on my T42P. After a fresh boot, if I put the computer to sleep then a stuck pixel would appear in location 0,0 (top left). I uninstalled and reinstalled the video drivers, but to no avail. What finally fixed the problem, allowing me to put the computer to sleep and wake it without any stuck pixels was to do a clean install of Windows. Hopefully, you do not have to go this far...
