My ThinkFleet, setup & TrackPoint keyboards (+ introduction)
Hey all, new here!
I thought I'd introduce myself by sharing a bunch of photos of my 'preciouses'. I'm Shark, a ThinkPad lover (of course). Although, I'd actually say I'm more into TrackPoint-equipped keyboards than ThinkPads specifically, but I still (overly) enjoy using several ThinkPads for leasure and work. In my spare time, I develop and write for my website dedicated to IBM (and Lexmark, Lenovo, Unicomp, etc.) keyboards and moderate the r/ModelM subreddit. As such, working with stuff like Model M4-1, M6-1 and M13 keyboards is my kind of my bliss I guess!
In case you're interested (and hope this allowed):
My site page listing various TrackPoint keyboards: https://sharktastica.co.uk/topics/trackpoint_kbs
Rest of my stuff: https://sharktastica.co.uk/gallery (warning: lots of large photos inside)
My desks/setup:
From left to right: T400, X200T, three ThinkVisions, L430 and W700.
Some of my ThinkPads:
Models in the first image, third image: 240 with KeyPad III numpad, fourth image: 240 ontop of a W7000
Some of my keyboards:
First image: black Model m13, second image: IBM 5576-C01 and Unicomp EnduraPro, third image: IBM SK-8840 (back) and Lenovo KU-1255 (front), fourth image: Model M4-1 and RT-3200
So yeah, look forward to speaking to y'all.
Cheers!

Welcome to the Thinkpads.com forum!
I'm also at the Model M subreddit (under a different username), but currently don't have a Model M due to many reasons including a lack of desk space. Recently got one of those SK-8855's from Poland, and satisfied with it (yes, I know they're not original, but it's an acceptable compromise given how expensive they cost these days).
Your Thinkpad collection makes you a bona fide member of this community-- personally love that pic with the 240 and W700 together.

Re: My ThinkFleet, setup & TrackPoint keyboards (+ introduction)
Thanks for the warm welcome!
That's awesome! Just remember, any early ThinkPad with a Model M6-1 buckling sleeves keyboard technically counts! One of my goals is to allow discussion of the lesser-known non-buckling springs Ms on there and on our Discord server; not because they're necessarily the best Ms around, but because it raises awareness of IBM's history and nuances.axur-delmeria wrote: ↑Mon Jun 28, 2021 8:20 amI'm also at the Model M subreddit (under a different username), but currently don't have a Model M due to many reasons including a lack of desk space. Thanks! Indeed, that's one of my favourite photos.axur-delmeria wrote: ↑Mon Jun 28, 2021 8:20 amYour Thinkpad collection makes you a bona fide member of this community-- personally love that pic with the 240 and W700 together.

Lovely collection. Can you please add the Model Numbers for reference along with the keyboards for some of us who aspire to get some of them someday?

So you're the owner of that cool workspace which looks more like International Space Station interior!
Seen your photos before and humbled to see you here
I guess I'm more of a guy tempted to say a few words in every discussion concerning *20/*30 generation - and a proud owner/user of T520/X220.
X2100 and W530 are taking a back seat, lots of of 15" R60/T60 waiting possibly until I retire and find time to work on them.
Greettings!
X220, 2 *T520

Added. Will have to get back to you on the second TP image since I took that a while ago and now no longer have that arrangement for easy reference.crashnburn wrote: ↑Wed Aug 18, 2021 5:06 amLovely collection. As for the keyboards, I also maintain reference material on my website (at least for discrete keyboards, info on internal assemblies are a WIP):
* TrackPoint, pointing stick, and UltraNav keyboards - https://sharktastica.co.uk/topics/trackpoint_kbs
* Keyboard Part Number Database - https://sharktastica.co.uk/kb_db
* Photos and info on members of my collection - https://sharktastica.co.uk/collection

Nice. Will have to go through this over the coming weekend and make a wishlist for future scavenger huntsharktastica wrote: ↑Thu Aug 19, 2021 7:12 amAdded. PS: Could you chime in a little bit here on a keyboard related query I had - Would appreciate it. I figured your "guess" or assessment would be better than my amateur one

Sorry for the belated response. For what it's worth, I've now answered (I agree with what iamdmc said).crashnburn wrote: ↑Mon Aug 23, 2021 11:33 amNice. Will have to go through this over the coming weekend and make a wishlist for future scavenger hunt
