Geeezzzz, I don't want to sound picky or smart@ss, but even if this 600 wasn't supposed to be working, why wouldn't the seller cleaning it at least a little before selling??? It's a Thinkpad man! It deserves more dignity... :??:

I'll start the cleaning process after this, hopefully no mutant bug will jump out of the keyboard to attack me... :(

This ZIP drive has seen better days, will see if it works if I ever manage to find a zip diskette :?

QWERTZ! Is the palmrest melted?

You should see some of my systems that are underneath a desk at home. Cat fur abounds! I really need to get them out of there and/or covered.

:D ha haaa.... Nope, that's what's used in German speaking layouts; "z" is swapped with "y" and there is the bunch of ö, ä, ü and so on... There are worse things though, like AZERTY

No, I understand the alternate keyboard layout. It was the first thing I noticed from the photos (the 'enlarged' RETURN key). It just that from your pictures it looks like the palmrest has some waves in it. Almost like it has seen some high temperatures and that the plastic melted a little bit.

Ups, sorry... I haven't noticed the waves in the palmrest, I was probably blazed by the dust :D

The zip drive seems definitely to be melted and the PCMCIA card as well. I have no clue what the previous user did with it...

TP is clean again, will see to post some pictures the next days...
