I know it's not a ThinkPad but I thought you may be interested to see anyway, here are some photos of my desktop PC. I custom built it a while ago, March 2012 to be precise (but I had two previous builds in the case before then).

Spec (it's in my sig but it's a bit out of date)
ASUS P8Z68-V PRO/GEN3
Core i5 2500K @ 4.3GHz (cooled by an Arctic Cooling Freezer 13)
16GB 1648MHz RipJaws-X
Sapphire HD 5870
OCZ Vertex 4 128GB
WD Caviar Green 2TB
Samsung Blu-Ray ROM
OCZ ZS 650W
NZXT Lexa S
Windows 8 Enterprise x64 (previously Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 x64)

Here are the photos, please excuse the dust. I know it needs a good dusting down. I know there are two hard drives in the photos too - the upper drive was a WD 150GB and was removed after taking the photos.

The cable management is about as good as it gets for the case. I didn't choose the best case in the world, there are much better ones out there.

Anybody else got any desktops they have built themselves? Would be interesting to see photos if you do!

Nice seeing some modern gaming stuff instead of ancient machines here. :)

I've got a similar setup, just a tad older.

MBO: Gigabyte GA-MA790XT UD4P
CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 955BE
CPU: Cooler Arctic Cooling Freezer XTREME rev. 2
RAM: Corsair XMS3 DHX 2x2GB
GFX: AMD Radeon ASUS EAH HD5850 1GB GDDR5
HDD: Western Digital Caviar Blue 500GB

That's a pretty nice setup you have there. I know the 5870 is getting on a bit, it'll be 4 years old this September, but it's still working perfectly for me at 1080p and I got it for £100 used on eBay in May 2012 so for the money I paid it's awesome!

Looks like you may need to do some work on your cable management though. ;)

Nice setup!

Re: graphic cards: I was on a 9600GT until two weeks ago, when it was finally offloaded to my family's rig, and I got myself the Zotac GTX660.

I have a deep, irrational, dislike of huge, long, power-hungry video cards. I was specifically interested in a card that won't be longer/louder/hungrier than the 9600GT it replaced, and I am very happy to have found this one. It's actually a bit shorter and does fine with just a single 6-pin PCIe power connector!

Ah you see, I like long cards. I don't like the way the new NVIDIA Kepler (GTX 600) series are so short in length. Take off the stock cooler and replace it with a waterblock and the card looks stupid IMO. :/
