A new ThinkPad-Family member (hint: Its an UltraBook)

#1 Post by Ibthink » Sun Mar 17, 2013 8:08 am

My old L520 (which you can see here: http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=103670) is gone (sold, still functional), so I have got today my new primary ThinkPad, the T430u (3353-3KG). It is really awesome, the build-quality is exceptional (nearly no gaps), the material used for the lid is really nice (its rubberized, but a bit different from T420, its more rigid and feels a bit smother) and the new keyboard is great, even better than the old one in my R50e (which is a NMB from Thailand) or the keyboard of my old L520. Also, the maintenance is very easy, thanks to the big service door at the bottom of the system). I simply love my new ThinkPad!  The only part not really high-quality is the screen, which is just an average TN-Display with 1366x768, but it is still matte and fairly bright, and it suffers no screen-door effect like the HD+ displays in T430(s), I am fine with it. Here are the pictures:

And in comparison with its new "brother", the R50e:

Its like "The Beauty and the Beast", and the R50e is the beast. :P

Have a nice weekend,

I've always been "the beast" kind of fan. :P I'm liking the lack of a trackpad on the R50e.

Perhaps it's possible to swap the T430u screen for a X1C panel. I've seen it myself and it sure is good.

You seem to have a decent camera but the lighting is way to dim. Just a small hint from my side.

Nice ThinkPads Ibthink! :D Congrats on your T430u!

I agree with Aurora...the pictures are good but the lighting is pretty dim.

Nice! I prefer ultraportables to ultrabooks though.. Ultrabooks are way too slim. Their design seem to lack substance and weight or gravitas. Ultraportables have more solid, LEGO-like quality which I like.
