...we cannot let this go unpunished. Thinkpadders unite!
Found this on tradera.se (swedish ebay) while looking for parts machines.

I'm half considering buying it, just so i can save it from this horrible fate. Its maybe a 30 minute drive from me. 15 if I drive my Merc...
Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against custom painted TP's, I'm considering giving my R61 a lick of paint, but there must be some limit. Metallic, really?

That's a lot better than some the new stuff coming from Lenovo. LOL

LOL...I used to be a pretty big "LOST" fan when the series was on TV, but never went to that length with my ThinkPads! I guess the stickers would be fairly easy to remove, but I'm undecided on the blue paint. Not bad, but the main reason for my choosing my first ThinkPad was the all black style.

I just have to say I really like the i5 and soundblaster stickers- if I had known they were an option for the T4* I would have got one in a heartbeat

I like how someone created the ultimate frankenpad by managing to put an i-core processor (i5 no less) into that R5x/T4x series!
I mean the blue and i5 is a win for sure!!!

Exactly!
I'm so bloody envious at the moment that I'm going to start trashing all my 'Pads right now...

Well, I've been saying for years that somebody should receive the capital punishment for inventing the EU keyboard layout with the short Left Shift key. It's nice that somebody finally agrees!

The Canadian Multilanguage keyboard is the same, with the short shift key - that is probably the single biggest reason I first got a ThinkPad was that they were the only systems I could find with a US keyboard - all it took was typing one essay with a slash rather than a capital letter and I was ready to throw the computer out the window; I got the T40 and never looked back.

Just a matter what you're used to. I have a similar problem with the
small Enter key from the US layouts

Back on topic, this blue looks horrible, but I've seen a T60 and an iSeries painted in a very similar blue in the past. Seems a bad taste virus spreading over the net

Hmmm.. looks like 4 major surface areas to prep (lid, LCD bezel, keyboard bezel, palmrest). Probably would take 8 coats of paint and then maybe 15 hours of drying time. I don't know if I'd do this to any of my 16 working T23 machines. Might consider it for the first T42 that I would buy.

Ah, but it's a 15" T4x, so the keyboard bezel and palmrest are one piece.
