ThinkPad X220i Slideshow + 2 bonus pics

#1 Post by 600X » Fri Jun 07, 2013 9:11 am

Not much to say here. I finally came around to take some nice pictures of my X220i outdoors. Display brightness is 15/15. It's the IPS display with 250 nits of brightness.

Nice Thinkpad! I'm surpriced the IPS screen looks so dimmed though. Must've been a bright day. :)

Also, really clever fix for the dots of death. Some of my X220's has had marks all over the palmrest because of them. Now you just need to find some paint that match the Thinkpad color to get rid of those horrible marks after the sanding. :)

Thanks!

The IPS isn't all that bright, but certainly enough to work outside on a day like this. The only reason why it looks so dim is the camera. Like you assumed it was a rather bright day so the camera obviously had to adjust by darkening the scene. Because of that the screen looks darker than in real life. In the second to last picture I put the gamma up a bit in order to make the scratches easier to see. In that picture the screen looks much brighter, pretty close to how it looks like in real. So yes, brightness is definitely sufficient.

And about those scratches: I actually kind of like them. They make the design appear less boring and add a somewhat tough look to the X220. But of course that's just my opinion.:D

Just use some black matt acrylic spray paint.

2 or 3 coats, allow an hour between sprays. and a week to fully harden/cure.

Mask the area before spraying with 3/4 sheets thick newspaper, as the paint can sometimes through.
