All new frankenpad species? The 14'' T43pF 15''? *Pictures*

So, I decided to test out if the 15'' UXGA display I had lying around, actually works.
I tested the 15'' display on a 14'' body, thereby making a bit of a frankie. :)

I have been thinking about trying to mod a 14'' chassis to fit the larger 15'' screen.

Anyway, I'll let the pictures speak for themselves. :thumbs-UP:

Wow! Awesome! This reminds me of the A20 series. They all had the same body but different screen sizes. So what IBM did was simply but a larger Keyboard bezel on it. Perhaps someone might be able to make something similar.

Why? Seems like a lot of work, when 15" T4x bases are rather plentiful, no modifications needed. Unless, you just like to tinker with such things.

Well, it's mostly because I like to mess around with such things, but also because both two bottom halfs 15'' models I have, are in some rather sad condition, which is really bugging me.

Another advantage would be the much thinner body of the 14" model.

Hey! You have a Dell! Some of you might be able to remember what I'm talking about, back around 2000 when Dell decided they'd do a 15" Inspiron 7500, but didn't want to redo the lower case from the 14" model......so they just put a bigger screen on it and it hung over the edge on 3 sides!

Please know that ALL motherboards from R5x/T4x series are virtually identical in shape/size/connectors/ports and will fit in ALL 14.1" and 15" models of R5x/T4x.
Only difference: some R5x mobos have a Firewire/1394 connector between PCMCIA cage and wifi clamp-arm, but they can be ignored when placed in a T4x.

(so Cola could have moved the 14.1" mobo into his 15" base instead...)
