Ideal workspace setup

#1 Post by TheWazir » Sun Sep 15, 2013 12:29 am

Setting up a new (upgraded) work space in a new apartment. Right now my setup consists of a scanner, printer, 15inch widescreen T60P, 17in monitor, external hard drives, powered monitors & headphones.

The new setup would probably retire the T60P and monitor in exchange for the new T440, and 27" monitor.

I was thinking about building my own desk, but not sure what would be the best size. I'm mostly doing research and hacking away at excel spreadsheets, but I will probably use this space to learn coding, draw, and graphic design. I'm also looking for ideas for the best way to maximize productivity and generally keeping the space tidy without a whole lot of maintenance (my primary nemesis)

Post your pictures - I'm looking for ideas, suggestions, and feedback.

Functionality is key for me. My mobile computing space is the inside cab of my 2001 Ford F150 truck. For that a 15" T60 is an ideal solution. Nice Flexview screen and the smaller non-widescreen width is the perfect size to sit on the arm rest of my truck. The T60 with a T7600 and a SSD is perfect for my mobile computing needs. Any real intensive work is done at home at my desk on my desktop PCs.
