Workstation for T500

My workplace was throwing away this brand new retail cart that had never been used. It was sitting in the store for six months and the new store manager told me to take it home if i wanted it because it was going to end up in the dumpster.

This thing is rock solid. So strong, that I've sat on the shelves you see holding the equipment. It's fairly heavy and difficult to move on carpeting with those tiny casters when loaded. On the plus side, they do lock.

That is my T500, Win7 64 bit machine with 8 GB of RAM, and a small 100 GB 7200 RPM spinner drive. It's networked with my other systems though and has access to the 2 TB hard drive.

I took the 8 GB that came in my T520 and installed it in the T500 when I upgraded my T520 to 16 GB of RAM. The RAM is faster than the buss speed, but it works just fine. The T520 got 16 GB of Corsair Vengeance Performance RAM.

I do wish my T510 & T520 had the same screen aspect ratio as the T500. I really like this machine for that reason. That is a Samsung 24" monitor in the photo hung on the advertising holder that is bolted to the stand. The desktop system is a Core 2 Duo Acer system with Win XP Pro and 2 whopping GB of RAM. It ran four monitors on two video cards and an extra internal power supply for the Sapphire video card.

The T500 is used mostly to display music while I'm practising or playing guitar. I also use it to display WX radar during severe weather. It runs much better on 8 GB than the 4 GB it had.

This is my newly upgraded T520 with a new 500 GB SSD and 16 GB or RAM. It is a pristine machine with mostly all of the bells and whistles offered at the time for this series.

I can't believe how much faster this machine is after the upgrades.

That is a very rare single-line late production Walther P5 with rare factory wood in the holster. There is a PPS next to it. There is another P5 in the case that you see above the T520.

Oh, and a Bitburger in the mug. ;)

The question is: Why does he keep the gun at hand, instead of hiding it in not so easily accessible place.

I think I know why the store manager let him take this retail cart...

I was getting ready to wear it.

Wouldn't do me much good if I didn't have it at hand would it?

Used as a haggling tool when negotiating a ThinkPad purchase?

I'm more of a Luger guy myself but it's difficult to fault a nice Walther....

Pay no attention to the gun.....I would be more concerned with the Thinkpad because that thing can kill most other brands of laptop within a small radius! :o It's power is lethal I tell ya! :)

I like your T520 machine. That is in mint condition. I have a T510 that is very close to mint condition. I completely agree with you in regards to the T500 and the 16:10 screen. One my projects for one of my T500 systems is to replace the 2.4ghz T8600 Core2Duo with a 2.8ghz T9600. It's been sitting on my workbench for over a month.
