An uploaded image will get the URL from the website where you uploaded it.
Some keep the original image-name, others (like Imgur) replace it.

It is unrealistic to e.g. upload
h t t p://img.photobucket.com/albums/v65/dr_st/Megashow_T410_X220_T430s/288p/P_20170323_075501.jpg
to h t t p :/postimages.org and expect the same NAME.
Most likely it would end up like:
h t t p :/postimages.org/dr_st/P_20170323_075501.jpg

I just tried uploading an image as a test, and the direct link for the image retained the original filename.
It does, however it prefixes it with a "folder name" which is a garbled random string. If it had at least been the same for all images in a given gallery, it would be almost good enough, but it is not.

If it had been what you said in your 'most likely' it would also be almost good enough, but as I said above - it is not.

In my Photobucket account I have several galleries and sub-galleries. Photobucket lets you completely control the name of the folders, sub-folders and files. When they started with this new extortion policy, I researched alternatives which let you have the same level of control. If I found one, I could re-upload all my images (with the same directory structure) and do a single search&replace in each one of my posts, to change *.photobucket.com/* to *.newservice.com/*, without manually going and fixing every link.

Turns out, Photobucket has been pretty unique in this regard! I have checked about 10 services, and found none that let you have all of this. Some of them let you have folders, but not control names (Postimages). Some let you control names, but not have subfolders (Wordpress, Cubeupload).

I am close to giving up and just using a partial solution, even if I have to manually edit every link in this particular thread (and forget fixing up older content, at least for now).

As a last resort, start your own website and host your pix there.
drst.com is taken, but e.g.
drst.me is available at a.o. godaddy

All images re-uploaded to CubeUpload and links fixed. Pictures should be restored now (although hosting can get a bit slow and the images take time to load). Consider this my own 25th anniversary special.

Sorry to disappoint you, BUT...
Malwarebytes blocks your cubeupload website!

That does not disappoint me, but perhaps those who use Malwarebytes' real-time access protection. Thanks for the tip; it's up to each individual to decide whom to trust.

Only the other day did I do an update of my (free) Malwarebytes virus-definitions, to do my monthly AV inspection.
That update included a new program version, which also has a (free) 14-day Premium Trial.
I have no intention of buying that stuff, nor do I use any other AV program.
I guess in about 2 weeks time that warning will not come up again.

Guess this was a one-off, sorry for the inconvenience.

I took on an opportunity to buy a fairly cheap, almost unused, genuine Lenovo Battery 44. This is the slim 4-cell battery for X220/X230. It's a rather rare one, since no preconfigured models used that. With only 29Wh, it can reasonably provide approximately 2-3 hours of work at light-medium load - not very useful on the road. Its advantage is that it's slimmer and sits flush with the bottom of the machine, and is also lighter. How much? Not much. The weight of my X220 with the 4-cell battery is 1.36 kg, and the battery itself weighs 190 grams, only 130 grams lighter than the 6-cell. It's about 50% of the capacity with 60% of the weight. It may be a good companion for somebody who wants a very light laptop and generally travels from one conference room to the other, working on AC most of the time. Right now it suits me well, since the X220 spends most of its days docked in a desktop setup.

Left: The 4-cell and 6-cell have the same footprint; the 9-cell is wider and deeper. Right: The 6-cell and 9-cell are cylindrical and have their own rubber feet; the 4-cell is prismatic and does not have feet.

The full weight measurement chart has also been updated.

I am interested in getting a 22 battery for my X60s that would sit flush with the bottom of the laptop and take advantage of its slimness. Because the 8 cell makes the X60s as thick as the X60. Also my 8 cell has 72% wear so any battery will be better.
