wow you took it apart all by yourself? I am comfortable with most parts but probably not the motherboard.

Well, it isnt that hard.
I repair laptops for my work.
Can install a lappie (IBM's are the easyist.. :D) under 40 min

Great pic! Thank you for posting it.

I'm not exactly an expert on such matters yet, but after reading the .pdf manual on the IBM website, I am so much less intimidated by the thought of replacing my thinkpad's HDD than I am by the thought of replacing the one on my Dell Dimension desktop.

It's so nice to see what the INSIDE looks like, as well as the outside.

12 gig HD (until I get something bigger)
Simply Mepis? Dam* Small Linux? Free BSD? Hmm...we shall see....
