Bill, want some tips on photography? My dad gave me a years lesson of it in 2 weeks (Aaaghh!)
A:Don't try to use the flash if your laptop screen is shinyish.. Use lights around it
B:Tripods are your friends if you want long exposures
C:Larger apture (Spelling?) = For more light but no "specific" focus on objects

X41 tablet housing looks more boxy (square... correct me if I am wrong... I am not Native english)

And idd, if there is 1 thing I hate its people who take pictures of their TFT's and use the flash  :P

Btw Bill, I heard the Tablet had a better viewing angle? Something to do with a 12" Flexview screen? Is this tru?

Thanks Bill. How do X41 Tablet compare with X40 thickness wise?

sorry about the flash..
i was using a new nikon D70s and i was unused to its features..

i did not pay attention to how thick it is but i would guess that it is slightly thicker than the X41..

I "welcoms" the X41.

Ahh the D70 huh? SLRs are quite a bit different from point and shoots, but in a good way. :)

D70? Lucky! Those are VERY good SLRs for their price range.

thread drift..
D70s.. "s"..!
refresh of the D70..

still learning how to use this one over my old coolpix..
which would show the view on the little display..
easier than peering through the viewfinder..

i spent over a year trying to justify this purchase..

lol, justifying the purchase...

as opposed to the dozens of thinkpads sitting in your living room...

iono, seems like 3 would be enough for me :P

A:Don't try to use the flash if your laptop screen is shinyish.. Use lights around it
B:Tripods are your friends if you want long exposures
C:Larger apture (Spelling?) = For more light but no "specific" focus on objects

gonna have to clarify C for ya

the larger aperture (small f/ number) will yeild lots of DOF (depth of field) and thus everything but the focus point will be ...well...out of focus and soft (this is taken to an extreme) whereas the small aperture (large f/ number) allows for more things to be in focus, at the cost of letting less light in.

each f/ number is a factor of root 2 and thus lets half the light in.

In short: get a tripod, get an external flash and bounce the image (45 degree of wall will do fine....or get a diffuser), or just get a lightbox for product photography that will give you that white space look ...(there are a few complete kits around)

You have an awesome camera, learn how to use it... and remember that the on camera flash is basically useless

that camera flash isn't useless...it should only be used when sunny. :)

are those laptops, locked to the table in your house? j/w how's the hinge quality?

hehe the viewfinder, pretty much the whole point of slr... i have a film nikon (gah i wish i had a d70, but just spent all my money on a new T) half the time i just set it to auto.. white balance for you, turn off the flash and go? if youre not using zoom and the rooms pretty decently lit, the exposure time without flash shouldn't be too bad.

Nice pictures. Don't know why, but the X41 tablet seems strangely appealing. I would have no use what so ever for a tablet, but I think I could work some out, just to have an excuse to buy one
