Re: New X1 Carbon unboxing
I thought larger pictures are allowed in this forum:
Also these days most phones and laptops have at least FHD and data plans are not as limited as they used to be. I wanted to generate some content for the forum as I feel the large sites are siphoning forum eyeballs and I want to go back to forums from social media.
I apologize for misinterpreting the rules. I did resize the pictures to 1920x1440 but seems not enough.ONLY in this: Pictures of your ThinkPad & desk setup Forum are you allowed to use more, and larger, pictures.

Yeah, it took 8 minutes to load on my US Robotics 14.4K modem with my 755C, I couldn't see more than 5% of the picture at any time.Utwig wrote: ↑Tue Jun 05, 2018 9:49 amI thought larger pictures are allowed in this forum:I apologize for misinterpreting the rules. Just Kidding, but 1920x1440 is still hard to see on 1366x768 on my X220 with significant zooming out, and 768p is still very prevalent right now.
My tip is to use IMGUR's built in Medium and Large Thumbnail links. Medium is something like 480 and Large is 600 tall, or somewhere around there.
Thinkpad4by3's Law of the Universe.
The efficiency of two screens equally sized with equal numbers if pixels are equal. The time spent by a 4:3 user complaining about 16:9 is proportional to the inefficiency working with a 16:9 display, therefore the amount of useful work extracted is equal.

Re: New X1 Carbon unboxing
By any chance do you travel a lot for work? In some companies, I noticed they will use the X1 for the travelers within the organization and give more of the Thinkpad T series to those who are in the office all the time.
If you do travel, any comments on the overall effectiveness of the lightweight and thinness of the machine?

Re: New X1 Carbon unboxing
The X1 Carbon was for the bosses daughter and he liked it so much that he ordered top spec 6 model for himself to replace his surface 3 Pro.
My comments on both X1s (spent a couple of days with them). It's perfect for travel, keyboard is good, I'd say better than T540p, closer to good classic keyboards and I'd say it would be a perfect 2nd travel notebook if you have a desktop or bigger laptop.
The X1 6 has glossy 2560x1440 screen but the screen is good and bright - boss who likes bright screens found it bright on default not maximum setting. You get the small USB-C charger same sized as _6x or _4/5x0 travel sized 65W charger. It even has a LAN dongle so you could use it to do some sysadmin work on remote sites.
